How to Brief a Custom Team Uniform Program

Start with the wearer and the wash cycle

A strong uniform brief names who will wear the kit and how often it will be washed. A weekend club side and a school athletics department put very different stress on seams, prints, and elastic. Share those details up front so fabric weight and decoration method can be chosen once, not after a failed sample.

If you sell the kit through a shop or dealer network, also note how the garment should arrive: individual polybags, size stickers, or team-set cartons. Packing is part of the product for B2B buyers.

Give the factory a complete decoration map

Logos, numbers, sponsor marks, and care labels all compete for space. A simple decoration map — front, back, sleeves, and hem — prevents last-minute clashes with league number sizes. Vector artwork and pantone references reduce color drift between jersey, shorts, and socks.

Lock size runs before you approve bulk

Most delays happen when a size run is guessed after sampling. Send a target ratio (for example 2-4-6-4-2 across S–XXL) with the brief. If you serve youth and adult together, say so. Grading and marker planning are cheaper to get right on the first purchase order.
